Jan van Oort.

Jan was born in the south of Holland. He succeeded his education at the University for Architectural Design (Delft) and built several projects at the Dutch Caribbean. Besides an artist painter, Jan is also saxophone player, architect, music composer, writer and concept designer for advertising. He is presented by leading gallery’s in Holland like van den Broek gallery, Helenaveen; gallery Frederique van der Vlist, Leiden and gallery de Boog, Ysselstein.

I like to connect people to their inner self. I see our mind also as a limiter. Our education and upbringing, as well the various media’s, our society with its paradigms, imposes a burying of our inner self. On the one hand, my paintings are full of drive, emotion, power and dynamism. It tells you “Have the guts to go out of the box and come in a state of mind where you are different, to connect with your inner self.” On the other hand my paintings are introverted, meditative. That is the other side beyond ‘knowing’. Being one with the whole, with that where you came from, before knowing, again, to connect with your inner self.

Jan nació en el sur de Holanda, estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad de Delft y llevó a cabo varios proyectos en el Caribe holandés. Es pintor, saxofonista, arquitecto, compositor, escritor y diseñador conceptual de publicidad. Ha mostrado su obra en importantes salas de exposición holandesas como la galería van den Broek, Helenaveen; la galería Frederique van der Vlist, Leiden y la galería de Boog, Ysselstein.

Me gusta conectar a las personas con su propio yo. También veo nuestra mente como una limitación. Nuestra educación, así como los diferentes medios de comunicación de masas, nuestra sociedad con sus paradigmas, entierran nuestra propia identidad. Por una parte, mis pinturas están llenas de energía, emoción, potencia y dinamismo. Te dicen "ten el coraje de salir del agujero y entra en un estado mental en el que puedas ser diferente, para conectar con tu identidad interior." Por otra parte mis pinturas son introvertidas, meditativas. Ése es el otro lado más allá del ‘conocimiento’. Ser uno con el todo, con el lugar de donde procedes, antes de saber, de nuevo, para encontrarte con tu propio yo.
